Grade Level: 6-8
Curriculum: Social Studies
Description: An 8th-grade Social Studies class will enhance Digital Citizenship skills through evaluating and using the Internet to conduct research while discovering what Global Citizenship mean to them, and ways actions can have a direct impact locally, nationally, and globally.
Learning Goal: At the end of the project the students will be able to responsibly research using the Internet and use existing knowledge to generate and synthesize ideas in original ways to portray the benefit their communities through socially responsible engagement and leadership (Condor.depaul.edu).
Learning Activity 2
Objectives:
Eight grade students will use a computer with Internet access to research what it is to be a global citizen and will create a mind mapping tool to draw connections between global citizenship and how individual action can be taken on a local, national, and global.
Title: Learn, Discover, Act
Topic: Global Citizenship
Time Frame: 1 hr 45 min
Learning Objective: The students will use a computer and Internet access to research global citizenship, and then will draw connections between and will use a mind mapping tool (options provided below) to draw connections between global citizenship and individual action on a local, national, or global level.
Learning Goal: Upon completing this activity you will be able to define what global citizenship means to you.

Title: How Can I Get Involved? Act
Time: 2 hrs
Learning Objective: Eight grade Social Studies students will use a computer with Internet access to and create a pamphlet using Microsoft Word to describe their visions as a global citizen in a local, national, or global level for a more peaceful and sustainable world; will present to class and parents using Periscope to broadcast.
Please review the rubric below for the criteria that will be used to evaluate your assignment/presentation. Your presentation will be recorded for the student to have the ability to reflect upon one's own performance.
